Dr Sam is formally qualified as a Consultant Physician and Geriatrician and specialises in Geriatric Medicine and Rehabilitation. Upon graduating from the University of New South Wales, Dr Sam successfully gained practical experience throughout Sydney’s and regional New South Wales’ hospitals, Dr Sam broadened her horizons by relocating to South East Queensland where she completed her training. She is an awarded Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians, specializing in Geriatric Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Dr Sam is also an associated lecturer with the University of Queensland. She is bilingual, fluent in written and conversational English and Mandarin.

Dr Li Na Sam is a Consultant Physician and Geriatrician and specialises in Geriatric Medicine and Rehabilitation.


Dr Sam works in both public and private practice. She has outpatient commitments at Greenslopes Private Hospital. She also works with the Institute for Urban Indigenous Health/ CheckUp Queensland to provide access to specialist Geriatric Medicine care for Indigenous people in South East Queensland. Her public work is based in Ipswich Hospital.


Dr Sam’s professional areas of interest include, but are not limited to; dementia, delirium, memory loss, falls, frailty, polypharmacy, incontinence, carer stress and general physical decline in older people including end-of-life care. She is passionate about improving care for older people in the community and has led research projects in dementia, delirium and patient centered care at the Prince Charles Hospital and Princess Alexandra hospital respectively.


Dr Sam is an active member of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Geriatric Medicine (ANZSGM). She has presented in the ANZSGM Annual Scientific Meetings and health symposiums at the Prince Charles Hospital and Princess Alexandria Hospital.
